Iranian director Kamal Tabrizi to join Turkish festival jury

Iranian director Kamal Tabrizi is to participate at the Int’l Amity Short Film Festival as member of jury.

Iranian director Kamal Tabrizi has been set to serve as a member of jury at the International Amity Short Film Festival in Turkey.

The themes of the festival include “friendship with neighbors, geography and history” and many filmmakers will participate at the event in Istanbul.

The festival includes three main sections and the other jury members are Palestinian director and writer Najwa Najjar, director Tevfik Baser and Turkish actress Sezin Akbaşoğulları.

The jury will be supervised by Turkish scriptwriter and director Yuksel Aksu.

Some 48 short films, 14 of which directed by Iranians, are selected to participate at this edition of the festival.

The main section of the event will screen 17 films; six from Iran, five from Turkey and some from Kyrgyzstan, France, Belgium, Palestine, Spain as well as Kazakhstan.

There are 17 other films in the next section which is dubbed as “40-years sanctity”, six of which are made in Iran.

A number of short films which have earned many awards at other festivals will compete at the “Panorama” section. In the very section there are two Iranian films and some others from Turkey, the US, Nepal, Croatia, the UK, Sudan, Switzerland, Russia and France.

Najwa Najjar’s ‘Eyes of a Thief’, Kamal Tabrizi’s ‘The Lizard’ and Abbas Kiarostami’s ‘Where Is the Friend's Home?’ will also be screened at the festival.

In this three-day festival some conferences and workshops are planned to be held with the presence of actors and directors.

The purpose of this festival is to carry the topic of friendship beyond time by the use of short films that are powerful means of communication.

The 2018 International Amity Short Film Festival is slated for December 14-16.
